ComfortDelGro’s MedCare fleet gives wheelchair users hydraulic-lift access to medical transport

ComfortDelGro operates a non-emergency medical transport service, branded ComfortDelGro MedCare, aimed at the mobility needs of seniors and persons with disabilities. Its minibuses are fitted with automatic hydraulic lifts so wheelchair users can board without needing to transfer out of their wheelchair, and the service launched with an initial fleet of 10 vehicles that has grown with demand.

Healthcare providers, daycare centres, social service agencies and members of the public can book a vehicle for one-way or return trips to medical appointments and social outings, either as a single booking or at an hourly rate. Alongside MedCare, ComfortDelGro also runs a wider network of Wheelchair Accessible Taxis (WATs) that operate across most of Singapore and can be booked through the company’s regular taxi booking channels.

For a transport operator, accessible mobility infrastructure sits close to the core business rather than being a purely philanthropic add-on — ComfortDelGro’s case illustrates how CSR commitments in some industries overlap directly with commercial service lines rather than sitting in a separate foundation.
