#OCBCCares is OCBC Bank’s umbrella corporate social responsibility programme, supporting projects proposed by 15 charity partners. The causes those partners work on range from vulnerable children, youths and families to disadvantaged elderly people, persons with special needs, and environmental sustainability.
Rather than just writing cheques, OCBC says the programme is built around volunteers contributing job relevant skills, including data analytics, money management, fraud surveillance and digital literacy, to its charity partners’ operations.
The programme’s best known environmental commitment is a S$3 million contribution to the OCBC Mangrove Park on Pulau Ubin, which the bank calls Singapore’s first large scale ecological mangrove restoration project. Mangrove restoration has become a common feature of corporate sustainability reporting, since it offers coastal protection, carbon capture and habitat for local wildlife all at once.
