OnScam hands out masks to migrant workers at a Singapore dormitory cluster
OnScam, the team behind the scam awareness platform scam.sg, spent a morning handing out masks directly to migrant workers at a dormitory cluster in Singapore. Volunteers worked the queue outside a canteen area, giving out individually wrapped masks to workers as they came and went.
The handout doubled as an outreach opportunity: volunteers used the face to face time to talk to workers about scams that specifically target migrant worker communities, including fake job offers, phony remittance agents and impersonation calls, areas scam.sg already covers in its public education material.
OnScam says reaching migrant workers in person, rather than only through its website, is part of a broader push to get scam awareness to groups who are frequently targeted but less likely to encounter the platform’s content online.
